Textual analysis of 'Q' magazine contents page

At the top of the page is the masthead with the title 'contents'. Before that is the name of the magazine 'Q'. This helps to remind the audience of the magazine name and keep in tone with the cover. next to that it the date and website address. This is so that the audience know where to go if they want to look in to the magazine more. The layout of the page is pretty usual for a contents Page. There is the list of features and some small images.

The main feature of this page is the picture of Jon Bon Jovi in the centre. This shows that it is the main article. In the image he is looking directly at you and the eye contact invites you to read the art cal about him. The colour of the image is plain tonal colours which makes the red from some of the writing stand out. The words written in red are the page numbers and the list heading are highlighted in red.

The first list is the 'features'. It is above the other list because they are the more important parts in the magazine. The list goes in numerical order. After each heading for each article is a small bit of information about it. They are quite lay back and informal in the way of writing these tag lines. This gives a more relaxed feeling, so the reader feels easy enough to read the magazine anywhere. Whereas the list below stating the 'every month' list doesnt have many of these tagines. This is becuase the heading usually specks for its self. Also the fact that the reader might know what it is becuase they read the magazine every month, gives them a sense of ownership.
